ISO/IEC 17025 Accredited Temperature Calibration
Accurate temperature measurement is essential for product quality, process control, and safety. Our national network of local calibration experts delivers the precision your operations depend on—supporting compliance, protecting products, and minimizing costly operational risks.
Our Temperature Calibration Services
Temperature measurement plays a critical role across industries such as pharmaceuticals, food production, industrial processes, environmental monitoring, and scientific research.
When temperature instruments drift out of specification, the consequences can be serious—compromised product quality, safety hazards, regulatory violations, and production failures. The Accredited Labs network provides comprehensive temperature calibration services to keep your instruments performing within their required accuracy ranges.
Our Process
Temperature calibration involves verifying and adjusting instruments across their full measurement ranges and operating conditions. Each device is compared to certified reference temperature standards with known, traceable values to identify any deviations from its intended performance.
Skilled technicians use precisely controlled temperature sources and calibrated reference thermometers to evaluate each instrument, document all variations, and may make the adjustments needed to restore accuracy. If an instrument cannot be restored to the required accuracy range, you receive detailed reporting with the data necessary for corrective action, maintenance planning, or replacement decisions.
All temperature calibrations follow internationally recognized standards and industry-specific protocols to promote consistency, reliability, and complete measurement traceability. Each instrument is returned with documentation linking its accuracy to national temperature standards—supporting quality management systems, regulatory compliance, and process control requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What types of temperature instruments are typically calibrated?
Temperature calibration covers a broad range of instruments including thermocouples, RTDs (resistance temperature detectors), thermistors, infrared thermometers, temperature transmitters, data loggers with temperature sensors, liquid-in-glass thermometers, and thermal imaging cameras used for measurement. Both portable instruments and sensors installed in process equipment or environmental monitoring systems can be calibrated.
-
How do I determine the appropriate calibration points for my temperature instruments?
Calibration points should be selected to cover the range over which the instrument is actually used, with particular emphasis on any critical setpoints — such as sterilization temperatures in a pharmaceutical process or control limits in a food safety program. Points near the limits of the operating range and at the most critical process temperatures are typically the most important to include. Your calibration provider can help select appropriate calibration points based on your specific application.
-
What is ITS-90, and why does it matter for temperature calibration?
ITS-90 (the International Temperature Scale of 1990) is the internationally agreed-upon scale that defines how temperature is measured and reported in scientific and industrial metrology. Calibration laboratories use reference instruments that are traceable to ITS-90, which ensures that temperature measurements made anywhere using accredited calibration are consistent and comparable. Traceability to ITS-90 is a key requirement for temperature calibration certificates used in regulated industries.
-
Can temperature sensors be calibrated in place without removing them from equipment?
In many cases, yes. Portable dry-block calibrators and liquid baths can be brought to the sensor location to perform in-situ calibration, which avoids the process disruption and potential installation errors associated with removing and reinstalling sensors. However, in-place calibration may not always be feasible depending on sensor accessibility or the accuracy level required, in which case the sensor may need to be removed and sent to a calibration laboratory.
